Snow is expected today in Michigan. No kidding, it’s winter and there will be snow; hard to believe. Folks, since we had the first flake this winter, the weather men and women have been singing and dancing, talking about the lack of money to clear the roads, the problems commuting, and all the stuff they love to do.
I receive weather warnings from My-Cast, and there have been warnings all fall. Now, when real snow may appear, I find it a little difficult to get excited, the there aren’t more e-mails, just more dire warnings. This snow event (storms are old fashioned) my give the northern Detroit suburbs something to stay home about, or not.
The current warning says 6-10 inches, at the rate of 2 inches per hour. But the local TV gave Papa a figure of 10-15 inches. I just checked their web forecast area and it now says 5-8. So, there could be 5 to 15 inches of snow here. Maybe.
I know forecasting weather isn’t an exact science. But I’m sick of hearing that the sky is falling every time snow is on the radar. Come on, be factual. On weather.com we’re in the 6-12 inch range. You may not realize it, but 6 inches if hardly a blip on the radar, but 12 is a major problem.
Here’s what I know. At 5 a.m., the dark colored cat rattled the bedroom door so I would rise and plunk soy pellets into the dishes. It was not snowing, I fed the cats and went back to bed. At 5:45 a.m., Papa’s alarm rang, and I put on a bathrobe and headed out the get my newspaper from the box. It had snowed about a half inch. Now, it looks like this:
I didn’t go out, but I did stick my finger in the snow in from of the door and there is 2 inches right now. More after daylight.
Have a good one, I will. I’m inside, it’s warm, and perhaps we’ll have soup for dinner.
