The Camper Show

I mentioned we were going to attend the show, so you probably want to know what kind of camper Papa and I bought at the big show last week.  Drum roll please:

Ready?

None.

We did do a good job of looking around.  As usual, I noticed a couple of things I didn’t care for, and some that I really liked.  Here goes:

I still don’t want a camper with two or (I’m telling the truth here) THREE doors to one bathroom.  It doesn’t make sense, and leaves no place to hang the towels.

Three TV’s seems a little over the top in a one bedroom trailer.  Just a little.  I can only watch one at at time, and they were all in different rooms.  Perhaps that motor home was too chopped up.

I don’t know why a TV would be mounted over the driver’s head.  I don’t know why the captains chairs don’t all swivel.  I don’t know why $200,000 motor homes have dinettes instead of tables and chairs.  I don’t know what the attraction of a dinette and a couch that make into beds is, I really don’t. I want a microwave, not a “combo” oven.  Ovens are fine, and I would like to have one, but not a convection oven.

OK, what I did like.  Some of the economy models had easy care, wipe up flooring.  It was not vinyl, or wood, but it looked good, and I know it would clean up well.  It is head and shoulders above the luxury carpet in many models.  Come on, you won’t have a carpet cleaner with you.  There will be mud, sand, water and grass tracking in.  Think, people, think.

A couple of models had two or more living areas somewhat isolated from each other.  If there is one thing I know, it is that everyone needs a little space.  As much as I love Papa, I don’t care to watch or hear some of the TV he likes.  In this case, distance is good.

We did see one we liked, and I’ll be darned if it didn’t have three TV’s and two bathroom doors.  Crazy?  But, it also had captains chairs that swiveled, chairs instead of one of the fold out sofas, and a table and chairs.  I don’t remember about the floor, but it had a microwave, not a convection oven.

So, another camper show has passed, and we have not acquired a new motorhome.  We may end up using Lex forever– it’s an economical option.

Neat blog-I love love Bluegrass so we definitely have that in common. I like your list of songs you’re currently listening too-good idea!

Thanks for the comment, Tipper. I have enjoyed my visits to your little cabin home on the internet, too. You live where our music comes from, and I can tell from your YouTube site we agree on music. Thanks for stopping, and come back anytime.
