Don’t Do This!

I had a little problem with the plants that Papa started this year, they just didn’t do well after I set them out. I didn’t have a clue what the problem was. Then I dug around a little. Here it is: Last fall we got some cute little pellet like things at the home improvement …

Garden Pictures – Finally!

Stuff goes on, and things take time. We’ve had a good garden year, but the rain stopped about a month ago, and everything is dying now. Things didn’t start out smoothly, either, but the middle portion of the summer was good to the grass, the garden and the trees. I did keep track with some …

Tomatoes, Still Tomatoes

I’m buried in tomatoes.  I canned some more yesterday, but I’m pretty done with that.  And tired of it, too.  I’m going to peel the ripe ones and make another batch of salsa.  We eat it on everything when it’s available.  It’s actually more like Pico de Gallo.  D1 introduced me to a recipe from …

Garden Troubles

I’ve had more problems than usual with my vegetable garden this year.  We had to replant the lettuce and the carrots.  The beets came up pretty spotty.  A few of our tomatoes suffered frost damage, and some tomatoes just died, don’t know why.  To top it all off, a few days ago, 12+ broke off …

What’s your answer

If your work area looked like this, what would you do? What I did was go outside and work on the yard. We finally had a nice weather day. The ditches by the road got raked, the weed and feed got spread. And I was rewarded with this:

Yard Work

It was almost pleasant out last night, so I stacked the dishes in the sink and joined Papa and D3 in the yard.  D3 and I trimmed the bushes to make mowing easier.  I raked one of the two ditches, getting rid of the worst of the leaves out front.  We put the leaves on …
