RIP — Butch Baldassari

I sometimes note the passing of those I know, and let the newspapers take care of the celebrities. However, the recent passing of Butch Baldassari is notable to anyone with interest in music. Mr. Baldassari was know to bluegrass fans for his work in the Weary Hearts. His founding of the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble show …

Back Home

We’re here, and most of our things are put away. I am a nest maker, so it is important to me to have things in order. I do have one problem, our bikes got covered with salt and snow on the way home. Our daughters had thoughtfully shoveled, so we drove right in the garage, …

Learn a Little

After exploring new territory, ideas or general “stuff” Papa and I always say, one to another, “You can quit now, you’ve learned something today.” We went a little over the top today, and learned quite a bit. We visited the 4-H Tidelands Nature Center, here on Jekyll Island, Georgia. There are exhibits of local marine …

Memorial on the Beach

While Papa and I were exploring yesterday, we came upon a bench on the walkway which was decorated for Christmas. Bluegrass. Any Questions?

No Snow

There is no snow on the beach here at Jekyll Island, Georgia. Papa and I just went for a long walk on the beach, it is about 68 and humid. My shoulders are no longer knotted up, and I feel great!

On the Road

We’re off this morning, headed south. We’re staying just south of Knoxville, Tennessee tonight, and then headed to Atlanta Sunday. Just to entertain you, here is what our van looked like, in comparison to the snow at M-in-L’s house over Christmas. In all fairness, our nephew had just shoveled the roof off, so it wasn’t …

The Day After

Today, we are getting ready for a trip down south. If you have checked out the links on my blog, you have noticed that the count down timer is counting down to the New Year’s bluegrass festival at Jekyll Island . We have enjoyed attending that festival numerous times over the past few years, although …
