Friday at the Kentuckians of Michigan

Flatland Grass

We did make it to the Kentuckians of Michigan Friday Night to see Tim Ellis, Steve Daniels, Neil and Nick Hensley; playing under the name they used in the 80’s- Flatland Grass.  The singing was solid in every way; and I sure did enjoy seeing Tim play that banjo again.

My favorite picture of those Papa too, hmmmm.  Here is one, it’s a thumbnail, click for an enlarged picture  of the band.

See the rest of the photos on Papa’s site.

I’m not a big fan of an electric buzz in instrumentation, so I wish that Steve had not plugged in his guitar in.  He worked the mike pretty well, but electric is electric and I heard it.  From where we were sitting the acoustic electric bass sounded a little loud, but it varied around the room.  I don’t think that’s unusual with  a hall type room.

It was nice to see Bobby Hutch and Regena out Friday night.  We had a nice visit, and talked about Jimmy’s upcoming show, Pickin’ on Cystic Fibrosis.  Make you plans to be in Fremont, Michigan on April 4, 2009 to support an important cause and see some great music.
