Granny Tells You What's Going On

Manton Harvest Festival

For Papa and I, the end of the summer of marked by a trip to our old home in northern Michigan. Although we were both born the the thriving metropolis of Cadillac, Manton is the focus of our Labor Day visits.

The Manton Harvest Festival celebrated it’s 85 year this year, and we attended several of the events. This year’s events were blessed by wonderful weather.

We dropped in on the Old Time Jamboree at the school gym on Saturday night. It was nice to see some old friends who were also in attendance.

After church on Sunday, we hurried home to eat a quick lunch, and then headed up th Manton Station to see a wonderful group, Bluegrass Revival. The community of Manton has worked hard to make the wonderful Pavilion. a reality. Papa took some photos of the concert. My favorite? Drum roll please….

The parade on Labor Day is always a great event, and this year was no exception. The weather was wonderful, and even when we arrived an hour before the scheduled start, crowds were lining the streets all over town. We did get a little piece of real estate in our usual spot, and had a wonderful time seeing the whole parade.

Then it was back in the car for a ride home, with all the other travelers. There was more traffic on the road than we have seen in several years, that may be a good sign for the economy.
