Granny Tells You What's Going On

Busy, Busy, Busy

I have been feeling sluggish and dumpy all summer. Well, there hasn’t been a lot of warm weather, and I haven’t felt “quite right” through a lot of it. Our recent family reunion took a little more out of me than usual, and I haven’t had much energy. Earlier this week, I was at the doctor and my blood pressure was six feet high and rising. Too high, again. This is an ongoing problem for me, and was for all my father’s family that I knew well. A little switch of medication has helped some, and I am feeling a little better.

I posted all our photos of the reunion over on Facebook, but I will put a taste here. I want to give a huge shout-out to Judy. She brought her little pony sugar over and gave all the kids a ride! Also to our niece Rachel, who lead that pony in circles till all the little ones had a turn. Thanks so much ladies! Here are three of the photos we took, in order you see my three youngest grandchildren, GD1 AKA as Natalie, GD2 AKA as Molly and GS3 AKA Noah. That’s Rachel leading Sugar. We are still trying to figure out how GS3 won the quilt. D3 was very careful to have a child that wasn’t too closely related to us draw the name. She pretty near died when he was the winner. There was a long explanation of how it was a momento of the reunion, how he could save it to show his grandchildren, and on and on.

While we were up north, we made a side trip to the Little River Casino and saw a Rolling Stones tribute band. We have a connection here, D3’s BF is playing sax in the group. It was a scream, really. Papa’s Photos of the appearance of Voodoo Lounge at Little River are here. Since I usually pick my favorite, I’m picking one of BF, why not?

Please notice the lovely scarf D3 had woven for the occasion. Really, in addition to her quilt making, she has a couple of looms and does a lot of weaving. Craft show season is right around the corner again, and she will be offering a wonderful selection at several shows around the area. Stay tuned, and check out her site.

Earlier this week, in the company of other like-minded ladies, I made a journey over to Lansing to join the Michigan Genealogical Council in protesting the closing of the Michigan Historical Center and the Library of Michigan. Following that little link will lead you to my account of the day, including links to photos of our group. My new Facebook and genealogy friend, TK, also took some and posted them. I want to personally thank her for not showing as much of my rear end as the photo of me that appeared on the LSJ website. Anyway, I notice it has been removed now, a good thing for sure. I’d post it here, but it was copyrighted.

Now, I’ve turned around a couple of times, and I find that it is Friday, already. We are coming up on a very short week, and then planning to see all our bluegrass friends over at the Milan Festival. This is an outstanding show, featuring many of the top touring bands in bluegrass music. I hope you will consider joining us there!

It’s no wonder your bp has been high! Sounds like you rarely have a chance to slow down and catch your breath. I hope you have a relaxing time at the Milan Fest!

Well, I do live at high speed, rarely relaxing. That is just the way I am wired. But, even if I take it easy, sit around and all that I have high bp. It’s the nature of the animal. I’m trying once again to lose a few more pounds, that is supposed to help. We’ll see….

Glad the family reunion went well. And glad you’re feeling better-hopefully you’ll feel all better soon.
