We had a wonderful day yesterday at the Red, White and Bluegrass Festival here in Morganton. It was a big crowd for a Wednesday, and a super line-up. I especially enjoyed seeing Heather Berry, Junior Sisk, and the SteelDrivers; none of whom will be appearing at Michigan festivals we will attend this summer.
Heather Berry and Tony Mabe aren’t a bluegrass act, but knew they were at a bluegrass festival. Tony pulled out the banjo for a lot of their set. He is proficient on many instruments, I saw an arch top guitar, autoharp, and banjo. Heather has the voice of a songbird. I enjoyed seeing them.
The SteelDrivers were amazing. Chris Stapleton can write ‘em and sing ‘em. They call their music “uneasy listening”, and I agree. But it was a fabulous trip!
Junior is bluegrass, and how. Saw him last summer, but spent most of that day attending to GD1, GD2 and GS3, so missed a lot of the show. I saw all of their show yesterday, and enjoyed every minute.
Three more big days here, come on over if you are in the neighborhood.
