Granny Tells You What's Going On

Banjo

Sorry to say, my “banjo” tag has nearly disappeared – that is a bad thing.    Just in time, Steve Martin and his banjo have been making the rounds, promoting his new CD, The Crow.  He is also promoting the new Pink Panther movie, but I don’t watch movies.  But I do like banjo music, and music that has banjos in it.

He was in the New York Times, on Letterman on February second, in the LA (Los Angeles, not Lower Alabama)  Times, and on Good Morning America;  just to name a few.

His most recent appearance, on NPR’s All Things Considered, is archived on their website, and I think you should read the story, and listen to the interview.  The video is eight (8) minutes of your time, about banjo, and worth it.  There are also some mp3 tracks of tunes from his new album and links to a few YouTube videos.  You can get the CD at Amazon.com.  I ordered it, but I have to wait for the free shipping to get it here next week.   I’ll be listening to those MP3’s on the NPR site in the meantime!

I’ve always loved the banjo. As a kid I always wanted one but we couldn’t afford it.

If you like picking (mostly guitar) have you checked out Tipper’s blog, The Blind Pig & The Acorn?
